PERSONAL DETAILS :
Balbir Singh Bains has been residing in the U.K for the last 25 years. He is married to Baljit Kaur Bains and has 5 Children Aged 7, 9, 11, 13 and 14. The eldest child suffers from congenital mental and physical disorder. He has never been convicted or tried for any crime and is law abiding. He is employed by Thames Trains and was due to go back to work on the 4th July. Balbir Singh is a much-respected member of the local community and is liked by all around him because of his kind and sincere nature. He is not involved in any political groups or organisations and leads a law abiding and peaceful family life. The only organisation that Balbir Singh has association with is the Akhand Kirthani Jatha U.K. This is a religious charitable organisation and has been registered since 1976. Balbir Singh has been an executive committee member of this organisation and has worked tirelessly organising events for this charity. THE FABRICATED CASE BY THE DELHI POLICE : Deputy commissioner of police Ashok Chand states that Balbir Singh Bains and Sukhmander Singh were arrested near the inter State Bus Terminal, while they were about to board a taxi at about 7.15pm on 29th June when alighting from the bus. THE LIE : When no phone calls were made by Mr Balbir Singh on arrival at Delhi the family back here in the U.K got concerned and the concern was escalated when he did not arrive at his village in the Punjab on the 25th June. All efforts were made by his family back in the U.K and in Punjab to locate Balbir Singh. After no success the family informed the authorities that Balbir Singh was missing. Mrs Hardev Kaur (Aunt) made a report at the local Dhillwan Police Station in Punjab on the 27th June to state that Balbir Singh was missing. Efforts were made in the U.K to seek legal advice and it was decided that a representative of the family, an uncle, Mr Kulbir Singh, should visit Delhi and try to find out any further information on the whereabouts of Mr Bains. On arrival in Delhi and after much running around, the uncle managed to find out where Mr Bains was arrested and was being kept at Lodhi Colony Special Cells, Delhi. He informed the family in the U.K of this and efforts were made in the U.K to approach the authorities. The discovery of Balbir Singh was made on the 28th June. Therefore the accusation of Delhi police is totally fabricated. A number of prominent UK based organisations and people are willing to give statements to the effect that they were given the location of Mr Bains before the time the police have stated to have arrested Mr Bains. Two sets of solicitor firms, John McDonnell MP (Chairman of All Party Parliamentary Group on Punjab), Human Rights Organisations and others are willing to state this fact. AN APPEAL : The family is concerned for the safety and the well being of Mr Bains and fears that he has been tortured and will probably be targeted with some fabricated charges to cover up his unexplained disappearance for 6 days. The family is still young with a child who has medical problems; the family needs the presence and support of Mr Bains and would like to see the safe return of him back to his family in the U.K. The family would like to appeal to anyone that can help to do so and if further information is required on this matter they can contact at the address and telephone number below. 42 Dudley Road Southall Middlesex UB2 5AS UK
